January
  • Time to plant trees (fall and winter are best).
  • Use Root Stimulator and Soil Conditioner when planting.
  • Prune trees and apply sealer to large cuts.
  • Be sure to water throughout the winter -- it helps protect from freeze damage.
February
  • Start pre-emergent program to keep weed seed from germinating. Amaze granules will take care of broadleaf and grassy type weeds.
  • Spray existing weeds with Round-Up or Finale (in Bermuda Grass.)
  • Test soil for spring planting prep.
  • Plant trees.
  • Feed trees and shrubs.

March

May
  • Use Systemic Fungicides on roses, vines, shrubs and grasses.
  • Fertilize spring bedding plants.
  • Discard standing water to prevent mosquito infestation.
  • Apply fertilizer to lawns.
  • Spray for Bag Worms.
  • Time to plant spring bulbs.
  • Spray any existing weeds.
June
  • Second round of Pre-Emergent.
  • Top dress beds to help keep weeds down and retain moisture as it gets hotter.
  • Add Bloom Start to Crepe Myrtles to promote longer bloom time.
  • Spray an existing weeds.
July
  • Use Bloom Set on Tomatoes to prevent shedding due to heat.
  • DO NOT apply high Nitrogen fertilizer to Fescue -- it will burn in the heat.
  • Give extra care and watering to trees and shrubs while weather is hot.
  • Plant summer color.
August
  • Watch for yellowing of turf grasses caused by a lack of iron.
  • Fungus may also cause yellowing and eventually death of turf grasses if not treated.
  • Watch for insects on trees and shrubs.
September
  • Third round of Pre-Emergent.
  • Plant Fescue seed late September through mid November.
  • Clean out beds and get ready for Pansies.
  • Plant Mums now.
October
  • Pick out spring bulbs -- they go fast!
  • Plant Pansies, Cabbage, Kale, Stock and Snapdragons for winter color.
  • Plant trees - be sure to use Root Stimulator and soil amendments.
  • Contact landscapers to get construction completed on ponds, patios and sprinkler systems.
November
  • Apply Winterizer and fertilizer to lawn.
  • Plant spring bulbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Poinsettias arrive Thanksgiving week.
  • Live Christmas trees arrive by Thanksgiving weekend.
  • Plant trees.
  • Gift certificates available.
December
  • Water trees, shrubs and lawns.
  • Apply Dormant Oil. Plant trees.
  • Prune trees now through March.
  • Add fourth round of Pre-Emergent.
